Furniture Designer Maker and Relief Puzzles

Gilbert has been designing and making furniture and kitchens for more than 28 years and has accrued a vast amount of experience during that time. He works with our native hardwoods as well as North American and European timber.

His designs are contemporary with a traditional core creating simple, graceful and functional pieces to suit any environment. Most of his pieces are inspired by the colour and grain figure of a particular timber.

He works mainly to commission and keeps a small selection of items, which are available for sale direct from the workshop or exhibitions.

He also makes Relief Puzzles which he created with his wife Helen. These are intricate puzzles in relief, cut from single blocks of wood selected for their decorative grain patterns. Designs portray wildlife and landscapes. The puzzles are single or multi-layered and set into matching trays or presentation boxes and make ideal presents for special occasions. Each puzzle is unique and not for the faint- hearted. His puzzles are in demand by clients from all over the world, some even building a collection. He carries a limited stock and will make to commission.

Gilbert is a member of the Guild of Herefordshire Craftsmen and he shows his work regularly at their exhibitions. He welcomes visitors to his workshop by appointment.
